Phuket Adventure Itinerary (5 Days): Ziplining, Diving, Sea Caves and Night Kayaking

Ziplining, scuba at Racha Noi, sea-cave kayaking at Panak, night kayaking in Phang Nga Bay, Ao Sane and Bangla Road, fitted into five days that actually work, with approximate costs in baht and rupees.

Quick answer: You can fit ziplining, a dive day, Phang Nga Bay sea-cave and night kayaking, a south-Phuket beach day and Bangla Road into five days, but not river tubing as well. The trick is grouping by area: the south of Phuket on one day, the inland jungle activities on another, Phang Nga Bay on its own day, and the dive on the last day, with your flight home the day after. Prices below are indicative and in baht, converted at roughly ₹2.87 per baht.

Who is this itinerary for?

Active couples, friends and families with teenagers who want more than beaches. It assumes you land in Phuket on the afternoon of Day 1, spend five full days, and fly out on Day 6 (because of the no-fly time after diving). If you add river tubing, plan on six days. For a calmer plan, see our Phuket 5-day beach and Old Town itinerary.

Where should you stay?

For this plan, Patong or Kata/Karon works best: Bangla Road is walkable from Patong, and the south beaches and tour pick-ups are easy from both. Our guide to where to stay in Phuket explains the trade-offs. Stay in one hotel for all five days.

Day 1: Arrive, then Bangla Road

Land, transfer, rest. In the evening walk Bangla Road in Patong, the pedestrianised nightlife street that fills up after dark. Go for the atmosphere, not a long night: Day 2 starts early. Keep valuables in the hotel safe, agree prices before ordering, and be wary of touts steering you into bars.

Day 2: South Phuket, Ao Sane and the viewpoints

A relaxed day that needs no booking. Ao Sane is a small, rocky beach just south of Nai Harn, reached through the Nai Harn hotel grounds up a hill to a small car park, then a short steep path to the sand. Parking is limited, so some people park at Nai Harn and walk about a kilometre. There are no mask or fin rentals on the beach, so bring your own if you want to snorkel. Nai Harn is a few minutes away, and Promthep Cape, about 3.7 km further south, is the classic sunset viewpoint, which is very crowded at sunset.

Add the Black Rock viewpoint on the way. It is on Phuket's south coast in the Karon area (Soi Laem Mum Nok), a little north of Nai Harn, and it is a cliff-top lookout over Nai Harn, Promthep Cape and the south coast. You cannot drive to it: park near the Three Beaches / Karon viewpoint and walk the natural trail, which is steep and about a kilometre. Wear proper shoes, go in daylight, and skip it in the rain, since officials advise extra caution on the path in the wet season.

Cost: mostly free apart from a taxi or scooter hire. Budget about ฿1,500 to ฿2,500 (₹4,300 to ₹7,200) for a private car for the day.

Day 3: Hanuman World zipline, then wake park or tubing

Morning: Hanuman World, a jungle zipline and canopy park in Phuket, with its meeting point in Phuket Town. Packages differ by number of platforms, and resellers list the 10-platform zipline at around US$46 to US$54 per person, so roughly ₹3,900 to ₹4,600. Larger packages with skywalk and a buffet cost more, and hotel transfers inside Phuket are normally included.

Afternoon: a cable wake park session. Phuket has several. Beginners are usually taught on the cable system, and one Phuket cable park (Phuket Wake Park in Kathu) lists about ฿750 for one hour and ฿950 for two hours for adults, and other guides put a beginner lesson with board at roughly ฿1,200 to ฿1,600 (about ₹2,150 to ₹4,600). Hours and prices vary by source, so confirm with the park and ask about age and weight limits.

Where does river tubing fit? Jungle river tubing in Phang Nga is a half-day outing, and Phang Nga is north of Phuket, so it cannot share a day with the wake park. If tubing matters more to you than the wake park, swap them, and check pick-up times with the operator.

Day 4: Phang Nga Bay, sea caves and night kayaking

This is the best day of the trip. Phang Nga Bay is north-east of Phuket, and the popular combined tours leave around midday and return after dark, usually five to six hours, with hotel pick-up, dinner and equipment included.

You paddle through the limestone "hongs" (hidden lagoons and sea caves) around Panak Island and nearby islets, which is the sea-cave kayaking you asked about. After dusk the same tours look for bioluminescent plankton, which glows when you move your paddle through the water.

Two things to check: bioluminescence is best around the new moon and is much weaker around a full moon, so check the lunar calendar for your dates, and it is not guaranteed. Phang Nga Bay is described as the most reliable place near Phuket for it, especially in the enclosed lagoons around Panak and Hong. Reseller listings for the twilight sea-canoe tour with bioluminescence run about US$119 to US$125 per adult (roughly ₹10,000 to ₹10,600), and a national park fee of ฿400 per adult (about ₹1,150) is paid to the operator. Brightness depends on moonlight, weather and tide.

Day 5: Scuba at Racha Noi (fly out on Day 6)

Diving needs an early start and a clear head, and a shared dive trip is a full day. Racha Noi is an island south of Phuket. Sources put the speedboat ride between about 30 minutes and 90 minutes depending on the boat and departure pier. Its south tip is a granite-boulder site from about 12 m to 40 m deep, with visibility often over 20 m and the occasional manta ray. This is not a beginner site on its own: if you are new, ask the dive centre about an easy north-side dive or a try-dive instead.

A private speedboat with two guided dives is listed at about ฿37,000 for the boat (about ₹106,000, split among your group). A shared three-dive day to Racha Noi and Racha Yai is listed from ฿3,900 per certified diver (about ₹11,200), with guided dives, tanks, weights, meals and hotel transfer, plus about ฿500 if you need a full gear rental. Non-divers can join for around ฿2,500.

Important: divers should not fly for a safe period after diving. One Phuket dive operator advises not flying within 12 hours of a single dive or 18 hours after multiple dives. That is operator guidance, not a universal rule, so ask your dive centre. So plan your flight home for Day 6 (the next morning is fine for a single dive, but with a multi-dive day aim for the afternoon or later), and do not book a same-day flight after the dive trip.

What about Phi Phi and the caverns for diving?

Phi Phi and the caverns are popular dive areas, but they are full-day trips from Phuket. If you prefer them to Racha Noi, replace Day 5 with a Phi Phi dive day and move departure to Day 6. Also see our guide to Phi Phi, James Bond Island and the Krabi Four Islands tour.

When should you go?

November to April gives the calmest seas for kayaking and diving. During the monsoon, bay tours and dive trips are often cancelled. See the best time to visit Phuket and Krabi.

Do you need a visa?
