Best Time to Visit Phuket and Krabi: Month-by-Month Guide for Indians
The Andaman coast has a clear dry season and a rough monsoon. Here is what each month actually looks like for beaches and island tours.
Quick answer: The best months for Phuket and Krabi are November to April. The sea is calm, skies are mostly clear and island tours run reliably. May to October is the monsoon: rain, rougher seas, red-flag beaches and some cancelled tours, but lower prices and fewer crowds.
Why does the season matter so much here?
Phuket and Krabi face the Andaman Sea, which gets the south-west monsoon. In the wet season the water is rougher, swimming can be unsafe on exposed beaches, and boat operators cancel trips when waves are high. That is different from the Gulf side of Thailand, where the weather pattern runs on a different calendar.
November to February: peak season
The most comfortable weather and the best sea conditions. It is also the most expensive and crowded period, especially around Christmas and New Year. Book flights and hotels early. March to April: hot and still good

May to June: the rains begin
Showers become frequent and the sea gets rougher. It is a bargain period and many days are still pleasant, but plan boat tours with flexibility and expect some to be cancelled.
July to September: peak monsoon
The wettest and roughest months. Many red flags on beaches, fewer island options and a real risk of cancelled tours. Some marine areas close seasonally to let reefs recover, so check any specific island before you plan around it. Prices are lowest, so this suits travellers who care more about budget than beach time.
October: transition
The rains ease late in the month. It can be a good-value shoulder month if you accept some uncertainty.
Which month should an Indian traveller choose?
For beaches and islands, December to February is the safest. For lower prices with decent weather, late March and early November are worth considering. What about Krabi versus Phuket in the rain?
Both are affected equally by the sea. In the wet season Phuket has more to do indoors, such as Old Town, spas and malls, while Krabi relies more on boats and outdoor scenery. That makes Phuket the safer monsoon pick.
