Quick answer: For most couples, guides say overwater villas win for romance and direct reef access, and beach villas win for space, sand underfoot and often price: one guide puts beach villas 20 to 30% cheaper. Privacy depends more on the villa's position than its type. If you stay seven nights or more, splitting between the two is a common answer.
