Thailand vs Bali vs Vietnam: Where Should Indians Travel in 2026?

Three of India’s favourite international destinations compete for the same long weekend. Compare costs, visas, weather and vibe to pick the right one in 2026.

Thailand, Bali and Vietnam are the three names that come up in almost every India travel search. They are close, relatively affordable, and offer a mix of beaches, food and culture. But they are not the same trip. Here is a practical comparison for Indian travellers in 2026.

Flight cost and connectivity

Thailand usually has the cheapest and most frequent flights from India, with direct options from Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and Kolkata. Bali is farther and often requires a stop in Kuala Lumpur or Singapore, so expect higher fares. Vietnam sits in the middle: fewer direct flights, but competitive one-stop fares via Bangkok, Singapore or Kuala Lumpur.

Visa ease

Thailand offers visa-on-arrival or pre-approved visa for Indians, making it the easiest for last-minute planners. Bali/Indonesia also offers visa-on-arrival for many Indian travellers. Vietnam requires a pre-approved e-visa for most Indians. Start your application early through Trripah’s visa hub to avoid delays.

Best time to visit

Thailand is good almost year-round, though July–September is rainy on the west coast. Bali has a dry season from April to October, which is ideal for beaches and temples. Vietnam is long and narrow, so the north is best in spring and autumn, while the south is drier from November to April.

Vibe and experiences

Choose Thailand for nightlife, shopping, island hopping and street food. Choose Bali for temples, rice terraces, beach clubs and a relaxed stay. Choose Vietnam for history, culture, mountain landscapes and strong value for money. All three are great; the right choice depends on whether you want party, peace or exploration.

Approximate budget for a 5-night trip

- Thailand: ₹40,000–₹70,000 per person - Bali: ₹55,000–₹90,000 per person - Vietnam: ₹50,000–₹75,000 per person

These ranges include flights, mid-range hotels, transfers and activities. Prices rise sharply in December and around Indian long weekends.
