Thailand Visa for Indians (2026): 30-Day Visa-Free Stay from 15 September
The Thai Embassy in New Delhi announced a 30-day visa exemption for Indian passport holders travelling for tourism, effective 15 September 2026. What it says, what is conflicting online, and what to check.
Reports on Thailand's entry rules for Indians have been confusing in 2026. Here is what the Thai Embassy in New Delhi says, and where other reports differ.
What the embassy says
The Royal Thai Embassy in New Delhi published a notice (uploaded 15 September 2026) about the revision of Thailand's visa exemption and visa-on-arrival schemes. It states a 30-day visa exemption scheme for Indian passport holders entering Thailand for tourism purposes, effective 15 September 2026.
Where reports conflict
- Some articles describe the arrangement as a 15-day visa on arrival with a fee. Later reporting says that was a proposal from May 2026 and was not what the final notification set. We found the embassy notice more reliable than blogs.
- Some sites call the entry a visa on arrival rather than an exemption. The embassy text says exemption.
What to do before you travel
- Read the embassy notice and check Thailand's official e-visa portal for any change.
- Carry a return ticket, proof of accommodation and funds, as immigration may ask.
- Check whether any arrival card or digital form applies to your dates.
- Do not rely on forwarded messages. Confirm with the embassy, which handles queries by appointment.
