If you have a Dubai trip booked, the news from Riyadh will have worried you. This article sets out what has been reported, what has changed for flights, and what to check. It does not predict what happens next.
What has been reported
- Gulf News reported an attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on Saturday 10 October 2026, with reported figures of 12 people killed and 309 wounded. Saudi aviation authorities said operations at the airport were temporarily suspended. Casualty figures in early reports can change.
- The Saudi-led coalition blamed Yemen's Houthi movement, according to Gulf News.
- The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the attack. The reports we read did not describe attacks on UAE territory or new restrictions on daily life in the UAE.
What has changed for flights
- Airlines that link the UAE with Saudi Arabia, including Emirates, Etihad, flydubai and Air Arabia, cancelled or changed some routes to Riyadh and other Saudi airports.
- Indian carriers also adjusted Saudi services. Akasa Air suspended Riyadh flights until 13 October, and one report said IndiGo's suspension on Saudi routes ran to 17 October. Dates change, so confirm with the airline.
- Reports around 11 to 12 October described Dubai and Abu Dhabi airports as operating, with some individual flights delayed or cancelled.
What this means if you are flying to Dubai
- Flights from India to Dubai are a different route from the UAE to Saudi routes that were cancelled, but connections through or near the region can be affected. Check every flight in your itinerary.
- If you planned to add Saudi Arabia (an Umrah or Riyadh leg) to a UAE trip, that part is the one most affected.
- Allow longer connection times, keep your phone charged for airline messages and carry copies of your documents.
What to do now
- Check your flight status on the airline's app a day before and again on the morning of travel.
- Read your airline's change and refund rules for your fare. Ask for the policy in writing.
- Check your travel insurance for cancellation and conflict cover.
- If you are unsure, ask the people who booked your trip. Trripah can check current flight status for a booking made with us and talk through your options on WhatsApp.
Where to check before you go
- Your airline's flight-status page or app, for every flight in your itinerary.
- The Ministry of External Affairs (India) advisories and the website of the Indian mission in the country you are visiting. The Consulate General of India in Dubai runs a 24-hour help line for Indian nationals.
- Your own government's travel advice page, and your insurer's policy wording for conflict or cancellation cover.
- News reports from established outlets. We drew on Gulf News, Khaleej Times and Outlook Traveller for this article.
