December is peak season for the Maldives, Thailand and Dubai. Here is where the weather is right, where it is not, and why the week before Christmas costs more.
Quick answer: In December go to the Maldives, Thailand (Andaman coast and Bangkok), Dubai, Sri Lanka's south and west coast, Singapore or Japan for winter lights and early-December leaves in Kyoto. Avoid Bali for beach days (wet season), Koh Samui (still wet in early December) and Vietnam's north if you dislike grey, cold weather. Fares and hotels rise sharply from about 20 December to the first week of January.

How to book December without overpaying
The cheapest December days are usually the first two weeks. If your dates are flexible, leave before 15 December or return after 5 January. Compare your dates on the Flight Finder and note that school-holiday weeks are the dearest.
Is Dubai worth it in December?
Yes, if you want comfortable weather and are happy with crowds. The Dubai Shopping Festival is reported to run from 4 December 2026 to 17 January 2027, so malls are busy. Gulf airspace advisories applied until at least 16 November when we last checked; ask your airline.
Where can I go in December without a visa?
Thailand and the Maldives are the easiest for Indians. Malaysia is visa-free for Indians only until 31 December 2026, so check before booking a trip that crosses the new year.
