Maldives Weather by Month: Dry Season, Wet Season and the Best Time to Go from India

The Maldives is warm all year at about 28 to 30°C. December to April is driest, May to October wetter. Month-by-month weather and what it means for your fare.

Quick answer: The Maldives is warm all year, with temperatures that seldom move far from 28 to 30°C. The drier northeast monsoon runs from about December (or November) to April, with February usually the driest month. The wetter southwest monsoon runs from about May to October, with more rain, higher humidity and rougher seas. Rainfall figures differ a lot between sites, so use the pattern, not one number.

What does each season look like?

Humidity runs about 77% in February and March. Sources: the Maldives Meteorology Service, Travelonline and Resortlife. Most of the travel sites are blogs of mixed quality.

  • Dolphin cruises: book ahead November to April.

Which month should you fly from India?

It depends on your city. In our fare data, Mumbai is cheapest in November (₹22,270) and Bangalore in February and March 2027 (₹26,468). Check your city in the fare guides. For May to October we price by hand: ask on WhatsApp.

Is the wet season a bad time to go?

Not necessarily. It is cheaper and quieter, and the sun still shows most days. The risk is rain on specific days and rougher seas on excursions.

What should I pack?

Light clothes, a rain layer in May to October, reef-safe sunscreen and a hat.
