Best Time to Visit Langkawi: Dry Months, the Wet Peak and Whether November Works

Langkawi is driest from December to March. September to November is its wettest stretch, so November is better for Thailand than for Langkawi.

Quick answer: The best time to visit Langkawi is December to March: the driest, sunniest and calmest months. April to May is hot and humid with showers. June to August is mixed. September to November is the wettest stretch, so November is a weak choice for Langkawi, even though it is a good month for Thailand. Malaysia is visa-free for Indians until 31 December 2026, for stays up to 30 days.

What to know for an Indian traveller

Visa-free entry has conditions: a passport valid for six months, a confirmed return or onward ticket, and the free Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC). The policy is announced to run through 31 December 2026, so check whether it has been extended before booking a trip in 2027.

Is Langkawi good in December?

Yes. It is one of the best months, and one of the busiest.

How many days do I need?

Three nights is enough for the cable car and Sky Bridge, island hopping and a sunset beach. Combine with Kuala Lumpur for a longer trip.
